Burge Mtn and Gate Creek, WA

We had a fun climbing weekend locally. We climbed Saturday at Burge Mtn with Phil, Parker. Marissa and John. Climbing at Burge has been developed mostly in the last 2 years. The rock quality is only OK, and the climbs are covered in lichen and need a serious scrubbing, but for only 45 minutes away it can't be beat.

Maggie's all ready to climb!

Phil leading.Isn't this a cute belayer?!

Rich and Phil on Bonsai, fun multipitch. 10 points to whoever spots them both first. On a ledge halfway up.

Rich leading a super dirty but fun 5.11 (maybe 5.12 for the lichen factor).

Possibly the worst belay spot ever, these bushes we covered in thorns.
Oooooo- a charred log, I think I'll use it as a comfy pillow for my siesta...
End of the day watching Rich lead a fun 5.10d.
Next day, Sunday. Rich, Phil and I went to Gate Creek, near Mazama in the Methow Valley. The approach was straight up a scree slope but the climbing wall was shady until 2pm and there was this gorgeous waterfall.

Time to take have a picnic and rinse off.
Here's a fun video, but it's a little long.
Packing up to go.

After descending we swam in the Methow River, where we'd parked. We had this lovely little swimming hole/log jam all to ourselves.

Back flip by Rich.
The sunset view from our cabin in Twisp where we spent Sunday night relaxing. Needless to say all the work we thought we were going to do on the cabin never happened...another weekend.
